The oil storage tank is probably the most important and most neglected part of most peoples oil heating systems. Commonly hidden away behind a shed or garage, surrounded by clutter and usually only visited by the oil delivery driver.
Your tank may be of steel construction, plastic single skin or plastic bunded (double skin). Every year the tank should have a maintenance check. If it is steel it should have its drain valve operated, if it's plastic single skin it should be checked for sun damage and cracking and if it's a bunded tank, the bund should be checked to make sure it is empty.
It's always better to be pro-active than re-active when it comes to tank maintenance. An oil tank check and appraisal is free with a boiler service carried out by Boilerserv.

There is quite a bit of confusion regarding oil storage tanks, where you can put them, what their construction needs to be and whether they can be changed like for like. Don't guess about the legislation and legality of your storage or wait until too late to find out that your tank is incorrect and your insurance won't pay out, call for a tank quote from an OFTEC registered installer, the number you need is 01580 230328 or 01622 744040 or mobile number 07774 432465. Don't talk to others about what they can't do, talk to me about what I can do.
